My dates for the internship in Slovakia have been finalized. I will be leaving next Friday, July 3rd. I will be flying first to Newark, NJ then to London, England and then to Budapest, Hungary. I will arrive in Budapest at 5:40pm on Saturday, July 4th. I have already made reservations to stay at a hostel in Pest which is not far from the train station. Sunday morning I will take the train from Budapest to Kosice, Slovakia and arrive there at 9:50am. The summer receptionist for Kosice chapter of IAESTE will meet me at the train station and help me to the University dorms where I will be living. The first day of the internship will be Monday, July 6th.
The internship will last 7 weeks and my last day will be Friday, August 21st. I plan on staying the weekend after my last day and then taking the train back to Budapest on Monday, August 24th. My flight from Budapest back to London leaves at 8:30am on Tuesday, August 25th. After a stop in London I will fly to Chicago and then finally arrive back in Minneapolis at 6:25pm.

- I have a B.A. in Math and History from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, U.S.A. I received my second undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree at the University of Minnesota, in August 2009. In May and June of 2009 I did a study abroad trip to Italy. The trip was led by two University of Minnesota Professors in the Civil Engineering department and the course focused on Ancient and Modern Structures. After the course in Italy was complete I was very fortunate to have another opportunity to do some more traveling in Slovakia and to intern at the Technical University of Kosice. In September 2010 will begin another adventure in Europe. I have been awarded a 24,000 Euro scholarship to attend the Erasmus Mundus Advanced Masters Course in the Structural Analysis of Monuments and Historical Constructions. This is a ten month program with the first part being 6 one-month courses taken at the University of Padova in Italy and the second part being a dissertation in Guimaraes, Portugal at the University of Minho. I am very excited for this program and excited to share my adventure with you!
