Films in Slovakia
Most Hollywood films that come to Slovakia and are in the theaters are shown in English and maybe have Slovak subtitles. Children's movies, however, are dubbed over in Slovak so that the children can understand them and don't have to be able to read. Unfortunately for me and the others Harry Potter is considered a children's movie so it was dubbed over. Thus, I will have to wait until I get back to the States to see the new Harry Potter movie. We could go to another movie though. Some of the girls were talking about doing this next week. If we do go, I hear that the price is similar to what it is at home, about 5 euros. I asked Vladimir about Slovak films yesterday and he told me that Slovakia produces about one film every year. He said that many of the Slovak actors and actresses go to the Czech Republic to do films.
